Computer technology changing

Computer technology has changed in my life time rapidly ,
technology has gone from slow and big machines, into faster , more efficient , and can be very small , portable etc. for example you can use your phone to go on the internet ,check your emails and send . also laptops are more portable and smaller less heavy.

I asked my mother that if when she was younger like me did she had a computer to tell me about those time . well my mother told me computers where very expensive and she didn't have money to buy one, second she never got a changes to even use someones else computer . she started to use computer when she first bought me a computer and she learned cause i taught her.

System Clock:

Is a clock that saves data with it time and date. This clock works by vibrations.

Scanner:

a scanner is a technology device that is used to analyze an image and process it.

Read-only memory(ROM):

is an added circuit programmed with specific data when it is made. ROM chips are used not only in computers, but in most other electronic items as well.

Random Access Memory:RAM

Random access memory (RAM) is the form of computer memory. This is considered Random access because you can access any memory cell directly if you know the row and column that intersect at that cell.

Pointer:

a pointer is a programming language data type whose value refers directly to point to another value stored elsewhere in the computer memory using its address.so basically this find the address your looking for and then it points to it.

Plotter:

is a computer Printing device for printing vector graphics.

Pen plotters print by moving a pen or other instrument across the surface of a piece of paper. This means that plotters are restricted to line art, rather than raster graphics as with other printers. Pen plotters can draw complex line art, including text, but do so very slowly because of the mechanical movement of the pens.

Output devices:

OUTPUT- is any piece of device of computer hard ware equipment used to communicate the results of data processing carried out by aninformation processing system to the world.

Optical storage devices :

optical storage refers to any storage device that uses laser light technology to locate and store data.

Non impact printers:

A type of printer that does not operate by striking a head against a ribbon

Mechanics

  • Ink cartridges
  • Platen
  • Gear train
  • Paper feed roller(s)
  • Friction feed
  • Timing belt - moves head
  • May be a multi device (scanner/fax/copier)

Mouse: network drive:

A mouse is a piece of hardware that give you control on the computer this is an input device.

Motherboard:

A mother board is a piece of equipment that ties everything together. this allows all the part of the computer to receive power and to communicate with one another.

Main Memory:memory:

The main memory is inside the computer. They use the word main to distinguish the external mass storage device like the hard drive . A main memory could be RAM.

Instruction Cycle (I-Cycle):Keyboard:

An instruction cycle is the time during which a computer processes a machine language instruction from its memory that the CPU performs to execute each machine code instruction in a program.

Instruction Cycle (I-Cycle):Keyboard:

An instruction cycle is the time during which a computer processes a machine language instruction from its memory that the CPU performs to execute each machine code instruction in a program.

Input Device

INPUT- is any piece of computer hardware equipment used to provide data and control signal.
For example, a keyboard is input because is a hardware device and you use it to write ,provide data on the computer and to control your writing .

IMPACT PRINTERS:

a class of printers that work by banging a head or needle against an ink ribbon to make a mark on the paper. This includes dot-matrix printers, daisy-wheel printers, and line printers.

EXECUTION CYCLE (e-CYCLE): HARD DISK DRIVE

when a computer follows the instructions in the computer program that tells it to run or to execute.
Before a computer can execute a computer program the program must be resident in memory. The program must occupy a set of consecutive bytes in memory and must be written in the internal machine language for the computer.

DVD

A DVD is similar to a CD but a DVD has much more capacity .A DVD hold 7 times more than a CD
.
DVD movie:
  • Up to 133 minutes of high-resolution video, in letterbox or pan-and-scan format, with 720 dots of horizontal resolution (The video compression ratio is typically 40:1 using MPEG-2 compression.)
  • Soundtrack presented in up to eight languages using 5.1 channel Dolby digital surround sound.
  • Subtitles in up to 32 languages
Specification
CD
DVD
Track Pitch
1600 nanometers
740 nanometers
Minimum Pit Length
(single-layer DVD)
830 nanometers
400 nanometers
Minimum Pit Length
(double-layer DVD)
830 nanometers
440 nanometers

Controller:

this is used in computing and especially in computer hardware with a chip or extension card that interfaces with a peripheral device.a controller basically can control thing in the computer like a mouse.

(CPU)Central Processing Unit

A microprocessor -- also known as a CPU or central processing unit -- is a complete computation engine that is fabricated on a single chip. The first microprocessor was the Intel 4004, introduced in 1971. The 4004 was not very powerful -- all it could do was add and subtract, and it could only do that 4 bits at a time. But it was amazing that everything was on one chip.

DC-ROM

Compact Disc-Read-Only Memory. these are disk that are able to storage large amount of memory data. A single CD-ROM has the storage capacity of 700 floppy disks, enough memory to store about 300,000 text pages.

Bytes:

Bits are rarely seen alone in computers. They are almost always together into 8-bit collections, and these collections are called bytes.

BIT:

Bit are Computers use binary numbers .The word bit is a shortening of the world "binary digits".

American standard codew for information interchange (ASCII)

  • This is the world wide standard for the code numbers used by computers to represent all the upper and lower case Latin letters, numbers, punctuation etc, Is like a list of encoding list .

Hardware is the physical properties.
  • circuit boards
  • processors
  • keyboard

  • operating system
  • editor
  • compilers
  • a Fortran 90 program
  • internet explorer

MY EXPECTATIONS

What i expect from my teacher is that she would be nice, understanding , and helpful.also i expect that my peers would be cooperative, nice, and not annoying.
As for myself i expect to pass with 90 an above .,cooperative , help , learn and have a nice time. and last but not least this course what i expect is for this to be fun , exciting and to learn something i don't know
